New Treatment!

What is the Cryopen Treatment?

Cryopen is the number one choice for skin lesion removal, it is safe and effective. It treats all common skin lesions in seconds. It works by delivering a precise jet of Nitrous Oxide directly on the skin lesion to precisely freeze the lesion and preserve the surrounding healthy tissue. Many skin tags are easily removed with one treatment, on occasion a second is required, but procedures are quick, relatively painless and cost effective. Prices start from £50.

Cryopen can successfully remove:

Skin Tags, Warts, Verrucas, Age Spots/Pigmentation, Seborrhoeic Keratosis, Acrochordon, Haemangioma/Campbell de Morgan's/blood Spots.

How does Cryopen Work?

Cryopen is an FDA Approved and CE marked Cryotherapy device used to remove benign skin lesions from the face and body. Cryotherapy is the controlled destruction of unwanted tissue by the application of extreme cold. It delivers an ultra-cold jet of high pressure Nitrous Oxide directly to the lesion, removing benign cosmetic lesions quickly and effectively. The extremely fine, pin-point jet produced by Cryopen allows the practitioner to work safely with millimetre precision.

Important Pre - Treatment Advice for Warts and Verrucas!!

Viral lesions are the hardest to treat because I am treating the lesion as well as the virus. 5 days leading up to the appointment please do the following steps to prepare the Wart/Verruca for effective treatment. The treatment works best when the skin covering the lesion is soft and slightly opened.

Soak the Wart/Verruca in a bowl of warm soapy water for 20 mins.

With a pumice stone or nail file, gently scrub until skin becomes rough.

*Remember to throw the item away after use!

PLEASE DONT SCRUB SO HARD THAT YOU MAKE IT SORE OR BLEED!

It's just supposed to open it a little so the freezing can be most effective.

Is Cryopen painful?

After a few seconds you will feel a slight stinging sensation, but this will disappear quickly.

How long does the Cryopen treatment take?

The appointment is for 30 mins including consultation - the treatment itself takes seconds.

What to expect immediately after treatment.

The tissue turns reddish and inflammation may occur. After the treatment you may feel some minor itching and occasionally a blister might form. Aloe vera gel can be applied if necessary.

What results can I expect after Cryopen?

The lesion will change in colour becoming darker, then a crust/scab will appear before falling off. Usually between 10-14 days. As your skin heals the damaged skin sloughs off allowing new skin to appear. After primary healing occurs, the area will be lighter than the surrounding area due to loss of melanin, then the skin will return to its normal colour after a few weeks. Complete healing can take between 4-10 weeks depending on the size of the lesion and where it is.

How long do the results of Cryopen last?

Clinical data shows that the results are permanent after just one session. Some types of skin lesions may require more than one session, such as Verrucas, Warts and some Seborrhoeic Keratosis. Some types of lesions may return in other places if you are prone to them.

What about other skin lesion removal treatments?

Cryopen requires no anaesthesia and has less scarring than other techniques, such as excision. Cryopen has minimal post-op care. Treatment times are fast and can be perfectly integrated into daily life.

How does it differ from liquid nitrogen?

While liquid nitrogen works at a colder temperature (-196'c) compared to Cryopen's nitrous oxide, which works at -89'c, the extreme temperature that liquid nitrogen works at is not required. Cell destruction in all benign tissues is achieved at -62'c, therefore nitrous oxide is sufficient to destroy any lesion without risking damage to the surrounding tissue.

Are there any side effects of the Cryopen treatment?

Changes in skin pigment -

Hyperpigmentation or Hypopigmentation can occur following Cryopen treatment.

Both generally last a few months, but can last longer.

Nerve damage -

Though rare, it is possible for nerve damage to occur  particularly in areas where the nerves lie closer to the skin surface, such as fingers, the wrist and behind the ear. Reports suggest this will disappear within several months.

What are the Contraindications to Cryopen?

(Reasons the treatment may not be carried out)

Unstable Diabetes

Skin Conditions - skin tumors, open wounds, solar hyperkeratosis

Cancer

Chemotherapy/Radiotherapy - 4 weeks either side of treatment required

Malignant tumors

Important!

If you are unsure of what your lesion is please see your GP or Dermatologist to confirm that it is benign before your consultation with me.
